Most Simpson County marriages were destroyed prior to 1882, so if you have marriages that would not be on record in the courthouse, let's post them here and build a really good Simpson Co. marriage data base.

Source: This is documented by an obituary that appeared in the Texas Christian Advocate in 1925. The obituary was written by Ann Robey, who was his daughter. She was my great grandfather, Blewett Robey's sister.

Marriage Fannie WILKINS to Joseph Cotton HODBY

11 September 1883

One of the most pleasant, though quiet affairs of the season was celebrated Tuesday at noon, at the residence of Mr. Thos. HAMPTON in the uniting in marriage of his neice Miss Fannie WILKINS to Mr. J.C. HODBY. Rev. A.D. TADLOCK officiating. After the ceremony an elegant repast was heartily enjoyed. The following day a reception was given the happy couple by the parents of the groom. The bride is (torn off) known in this community and (torn off) as a lady of culture and (torn off) accomplishments, and the (torn off) first-class, energetic busi-(torn off). The FAVORITE wishes (torn off) much happiness.
