Mr. M. S. Caldwell, aged 60 years, an ex-Confederate soldier and a highly esteemed citizen of Franklin died at his home Monday at 4 o'clock a.m., after an Illness of three months from bowel consumption. During the past ten years Mr. Caldwell had been engaged in the grocery business here, retiring last March. A wife and two daughters, Miss Bertha Caldwell and Mrs. N. H. Stringer, survive him. The Funeral services were conducted by Elder M. L. Moore Tuesday, after which the burial followed in Green Lawn Cemetery.

MRS. JOHN A. CARTER, 77 years of age, died at two o’clock yesterday afternoon at her home, 974 South Fourth avenue, after a period of failing health lasting more than two years. About a month ago she suffered a stroke of paralysis, from the effect of which she never rallied. Mrs. Carter was, prior to her marriage, Miss ALBANA CARSON, daughter of THOMAS D. CARSON and CAROLINE CARSON, of Butler county, where she was born October 23, 1832. Her mother was a member of the HINES family of Warren county, with one branch of which she is still more closely connected on her father’s side.

Lue Ruley CAUDILL

A native of Simpson County dies. She was 28years, 6 months and 12 days old. She was the daughter of the late Leander and Martha Ann Starks Ruley. She is survived by her husband, Ben F. Caudill of Simpson County, Kentucky. A two day old baby girl, Vera. Six Brothers: Leslie, Johnny, Lon, Ben, King and Bland Ruley all of Simpson County, Kentucky. Four Sisters: Sallie, Pauline, and Stella Ruley of Simpson County, Kentucky. Margaret Ruley Rutherford of Logan County, Kentucky. Burial took place in Starks Cemetery in Simpson County, Kentucky.

Old Man Dead - Mr. Chaney, aged 74, died at his home near town last Saturday. Mr. Chaney had been sick for some time and his death was not unexpected. He was a deeply pious man of the Old Baptist faith, and a well liked and greatly respected citizen. He was a widower at the time of his death, but had been twice married and was the father of twenty children, a number of whom preceded him to the grave. Revs Holbrooks and Hall conducted the funeral and the interment took place at the Robey burying-ground, House & Son, the undertakers, superintending the burial.

Mrs Martha Jane Cox Answers Summons - Mrs Martha Jane Cox, 79, died at the home of her daughter Mrs. Joe Gann, Wednesday, April 30, after a short illness from disabilities incident to old age. She was member of the Baptist Church and a devout Christian. Funeral services were conducted from the home by Elder Howard Ditmore Thursday, with burial in Macedonia Cemetery.

21 September 1892 - Supplied by Lorraine Bronner - Killed by the Marshal - Sam Cox of Lafayette Tenn was shot and mortally wounded by town marshal John Angel of that place Wednesday of last week. Cox was drunk and resisted arrest and in the shooting which followed shot I. L. Roark in the arm and J H Kee in the neck and fired at Angel. Angel returned the Fire and shot Cox four or five times in the head and breast He died on Thursday.

Mr. J. S. CUSHENBERRY, aged 75 years, died at his home near Middleton last Monday. Mr. Cushenberry was one of the county's best-known farmers... Four sons, Messrs. JAS. MUNDAY, and BEN CUSHENBERRY, of Colgate, Okia., and HENRY CUSHENBERRY, of this county, and two daughters, Mrs. Dr. Ollie Farthing, of Meridian, Miss., and MRS. L. B. Thurmond, of Coldgate, Okla., survive him. The remains were laid to rest on Tuesday in the Sulphur Spring burying ground.
